WHO IS KYTHEDESIGNER?

My Name is Kyle Van Gemert, I’m a Independent multi-disciplinary Graphic Designer and Video Editor from Newcastle, Australia.

I am currently heading into my third year in a Bachelor of Visual Communication Design at the University of Newcastle, achieving high marks for my projects and partaking in multiple study tours representing the university across the world.

I lived in Holsworthy, Western Sydney for my early years before moving to the coastal town of Port Macquarie, where I attended primary and secondary school. I have always been a creative person, and found my true passion for graphic design in high school, undertaking the HSC elective Industrial Multimedia to pursue this passion of mine.

Year 11 in 2022 saw a simple multimedia assignment turn into my first freelance client project. The assignment was to design medal concepts for Port Macquarie's 2022 Runfest and present them to the organiser of the event. The organiser of Runfest Port Macquarie was impressed with my design concepts and wanted to work with me to bring my artwork to life. In 2023, Runfest Port Macquarie runners were awarded with medals designed by me!

2022 is the year where I started designing under the name KyTheDesigner.

My major work for HSC Multimedia and Design and Technology were selected to be showcased from November 2023 to February 2024 at Port Macquarie's Glasshouse Regional Gallery as a part of the Regional Arts exhibit

moved to Newcastle in 2024 and now, I am in my third year of a Bachelor Of Visual Communication Design at the University of Newcastle. I have undertaken and produced exciting projects that have challenged me and help me grow into the designer I am today!

I have traveled across the world, representing the University of Newcastle on Visual Communication Study Tours and designed for clients outside of the University, building strong industry contacts and relationships with brands!

Now with new projects coming up and my first creative side project, WILDFLWR. launching soon, Im truly excited to see what the year of 2026 and beyond has installed for me and my path to a career of passionate designing, editing and all sorts of other creative endeavours!
