OVERVIEW
Runfest Central Coast is an annual running festival that takes place at The Entrance. The event holds multiple races of different distances, from 3 kilometers to a half marathon. Thousands of locals and runners from across Australia partake in the event and they all receive a medal upon completion. After creating designs for Port Macquarie Runfest in 2023 during highschool, I got back in contact with the organiser of the event and was tasked to create medal designs for multiple Runfest events, including the first, Runfest Central Coast 2025. A brand refresh of Runfest was also on the horizon and to be kept in mind.
CHALLENGE
I had to design five medals for the event that felt unique but cohesive as a collective, as runners at the event run in multiple distance races. I am set to design medals for other events for Runfest in the near future, so I had to make sure these medals featured flora, fauna or landmarks specifically related to The Entrance in the Central Coast.
SOLUTION
I designed five unique designs that reflect and celebrate the icons of The Entrance and the greater Central Coast area. Each medal is uniquely designed, with their own subject matter and composition, whilst sharing the same art style and the bright pink circle with the runfest logo to tie them all together. The bright pink circle helps create cohesion between the medals and also differentiate these medals from other medals of Runfest events in different locations such as the Port Macquarie Runfest event in March 2026.
With the addition of the medal designs, I also began a refresh of the current Runfest Central Coast branding while keeping the overarching brand and other Runfest events in mind. To create a more consistent and cohesive identity, the refreshed logos drop the dark cyan and make the pink the primary colour for the branding to differentiate the Central Coast event to other events under Runfest. This overarching brand refresh designs are still undergoing and this start to the branding is to be expanded on. ( As of Feb 2026 )
