OVERVIEW

Horseshoe Bay is a beach located at South West Rocks on the NSW coast. This location is a popular holiday destination for families and couples with a few caravan parks located amongst the town. For couples looking for a relaxing holiday, they may prefer a location with less children and noise. I used this idea within a university project to create a visual identity for a resort and spa in this area.

CHALLENGE

This resort is located on the site of an old pub and cafe in South West Rocks, with a greeny-blue weatherboard front.  This visual identity design had to communicate a sophisticated feel but also call back to the site’s origins. The assignment also required a collection of wayfinding icons that must remain legible on different scales but match the established visual identity.

SOLUTION

The Primary logo uses an elegant serif typeface to create a luxurious impression, with an accompanying monospace type for legibility. The deep sea green with it’s lighter shade of verdigris and white is used as the the

primary colour scheme throughout the visual identity to pay homage to its previous sites history and to communicate its nature inspired practice.

The Logo mark for the Horseshoe Bay Resort & Spa is clean, primarily made up of two symmetrical horseshoes, however the mark still carries a luxurious feel. The logo mark is legible on multiple variations of the brands colour scheming and at large and small scale.

The collection of wayfinding icons use the logo marked blocky shape with curved corners to create consistency between each icon and overarching visual identity. Wayfinding signs are paired with natural wood within the building that pairs beautifully with the primary colours of the brand.
